Are you a high school student ready to take the next step in your education journey? Applying for university courses can seem overwhelming, but with the right guidance, the process can be straightforward. In this article, we'll walk you through the easiest way to apply for university using the University Admissions Centre (UAC).

What is the Easiest way to Apply for University?

The easiest way to apply to university is through the university admissions centre, or UAC. This resource centralises courses from all universities, allowing you to apply for the courses you want. Similar to university admissions, UAC has deadlines that you must adhere to.

In this article, we will provide you, the student, with step-by-step instructions on how to use UAC and set up your account.

NOTE: Applying to universities through UAC can only be done after HSC results have been released. To receive university course offers earlier visit our other pages The In’s and Out’s of Early Entry Applications

Setting up Your UAC Account

To successfully start your university applications through UAC you must first apply for a UAC account through the following link:

This link will take you to UAC’s home page, where you can create an account. Click the apply/login button to start (displayed in a red box in the image below) and then proceed to select the option for an undergraduate application from the drop-down menu.

This will take you to a page which looks like the following image. Once on this page, click the start application button to begin creating your UAC account.

From here, you will be taken to a page where you must provide an email address and password to begin your application registration. It is crucial that you use a personal email address rather than your school email, as many people who use their school email lose access to their UAC account once they leave school.

Once you have filled in your PERSONAL email and created a strong password, click register. You will then receive an email containing a link to confirm your email address. Click on this link and then proceed to move on to the next step.

Return back to the application page and this time login using your email and password.

From here, you will be asked various questions relating to your citizenship and current-year education qualifications. After answering questions related to your citizenship and current-year education qualifications, you will be taken to a page asking you to provide your student number and UAC pin.

Your student number is the number used in your year 12 final exams, which is applicable for students across Australia. This could be your NESA, BSSS or IB student number.

Additionally, depending on your state of residence, your UAC pin will be emailed to you (to your school email address) in April. If you can’t find it, simply dial UAC at (02) 9752 0200 and talk to a customer service representative to find your number.

If you are still having trouble with your student number, refer to the following image to gain any clarification.

You will then be taken to a 4-step page to fill out details about yourself. These pages include the following:

Step 1

Personal details including name, date of birth etc. Additionally, you must know your Unique Student Identifier. A USI is your individual education number given to you by the Australian government. It gives you an online record of your vocational education and training undertaken in Australia.

Step 2

Qualifications: Your year 12 qualifications will have already been added, however, if there are any others you would like to add you may. You should only add relevant qualifications. Generally, year 12 students do not have any other qualifications to add, so do not worry if you have nothing more to provide.

Step 3

Course preferences: Here, you will be asked to select 5 course preferences, ranking them in order from your most desired course to your least desired course. A detailed outline of all possible courses across universities in Australia is provided by clicking "search for courses."

Step 4

Submission and payment: The final page will be a review of all your previous information. It will then take you to a payment page, where you will be required to pay $80 to have a fully functional account.

You can log into your UAC account at any time to update your personal details or change your course preferences.

Finalising Your Account

Applying for university courses through UAC is a straightforward process that can be completed in just a few steps. By creating a UAC account, providing your personal details and qualifications, and selecting your desired course preferences, you'll be well on your way to starting your higher education journey.

Remember to adhere to UAC's deadlines and keep your account information up-to-date. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to UAC's customer service team for assistance. Good luck with your university applications!
